The Boston/Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra, which has been leaking dollars considerably faster than they can be replenished, hopes that there’s money to made in seasonal migrations to Miami. This is a tack that the orchestras of other snowbound cities might consider: follow that aging audience we’re always hearing about to places where grey is cool. Or what about moving the franchise completely? Baseball teams do it. Why not find a sponsor eager to import a fancy northeastern brand name to the culturally drought-ridden sunbelt? Houston’s already got a symphony and an opera company, so that ‘s out. No disrespect intended, but who’d keep buying tickets to the Scottsdale Symphony if the BSO moved into town?
