From a superb new recording of Bernard Herrmann's scores for The Man Who Knew Too Much and On Dangerous Ground, with William Stromberg conducting the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, on Intrada. "The Winter Walk" comes toward the end of the Dangerous Ground score, which heralds in many ways the hypnotic post-impressionism of Herrmann's masterpiece, Vertigo. As it happens, the RSNO made a glorious recording of that score back in 1996.
